Clivia miniata

Clivia miniata comes from South Africa. It grows in sub-tropical savanna. The common name is the Bush Lilly which I assume does not describe the plant's morphology but rather its habitat, as savanna is referred to as 'the bush' in South Africa. Clivia are members of the Amaryllidaceae.

The specimen in the photo is grown as a house plant. It is several years old but does not flower regularly.

  • A really spectacular flower close-up and a highly effective use of the black background. Excellent work, Eric!
